SOCIO-ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES, PUBLIC POLICIES AND SOCIAL SERVICE: NEGATIONISM AND ETHICAL-POLITICAL COMMITMENT IN THE CONTEXT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
Abstract
The present work is a theoretical essay that aims to analyze the main political, social, economic, environmental and health consequences accentuated by the Covid-19 pandemic context in the current Brazilian scenario, in view of the new demands of labor reconfiguration and active participation. of the population, the contemporary challenges regarding the denialism of the current government and the reaffirmation of the ethical-political commitment of the profession of social workers in the defense of the environment. Based on the contribution of intellectuals who present the critical-dialectical framework in their analyses, the reflections presented aim to denounce the main attacks provoked by the current ultra-neoliberal management and by the opposition of the State of death in guaranteeing public policies in the face of the sharpening of expressions of socio-environmental issue. In addition to referring to some managerial functions that are essential for the professional exercise of social workers, in conjunction with other professions, in the various socio-occupational spaces of intervention within public and social policies, in order to contribute to the construction of a system of broad and effective social protection, in addition to developing services, programs, and sustainability projects through a socio-environmental management model from an intersectoral perspective.
