Abstract

The Social Scale of Adherence to Solid Organ Transplants (SASOT) was created to evaluate the social conditions of transplant candidates, combining psychometric rigor and accessibility. The study aimed to assess the clarity of the Scale for these candidates. A Likert scale (5 points) was applied to 30 candidates at the Hospital de Base in São José do Rio Preto/SP (2024) to assess the clarity of SASOT. Results indicated that 94.7% to 97.5% of the items were "completely clear." Moderate negative correlations between age and clarity (2 items) suggested understanding challenges for higher age groups (correlation does not imply causation). The restructuring combined these results with the authors' participant observation. After reformulation, SASOT was improved to be accessible regardless of the candidates' age, considering transplant services nationwide.
