Abstract

The article presents a problematization of family concepts incorporated into Brazilian educational policy legislation for access to higher education based on documents referring to government measures around the expansionist phase of higher education in Brazil. In methodological terms, document research and content analysis were used to develop the article. The concept of family in educational legislation remains around the issue of income or the socioeconomic condition of the family group, that is, the sharing of resources as well as residence or domicile. The conceptions of family found in the documentary analysis reveal the complexity of addressing the theme in educational policy programs in the context of expansion and restructuring of Brazilian higher education and access to higher education.
