Abstract

This article looks at the militant career of Luzia Macungo, an emblematic figure of the UPA/FNLA and the Angolan Women's Association (AMA) in the underground and in Angola's national liberation struggle. We want to publicise her unique experience, highlighting her contribution to the national liberation struggle. In this context, the choice of topic stems from the scarcity of studies on the women of this movement. Methodologically, we relied on oral and documentary sources. The results indicate that, despite the active participation of these women in the anti-colonial struggle, their role is still not recognised in historiography and in Angola's official history.
