Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the Lutheran-Evangelical burial ground space as a place of pedagogical memory within the concept of community of this religious group. Focusing on a cluster of graves at the entrance of the cemetery of the São Pedro do Canguçu Velho community, in the countryside of the municipality of Canguçu-RS, as the object of research, and on the basis of interviews given by two members of the community about the burial practices and the theology of the Lutheran church regarding suicides, this paper makes an analysis of these memories, relating them to the religious/community memory and identity.
